Abstract:
A review of philosophy behind the Internet protocol suite TCP/IP developed by DARPA. Discusses Internet Protocol (IP) and Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the "objectives of Internet architecture" which include "multiplexed utilization of existing interconnected networks". Emphasizes that if the Internet fails, is restructured or reconfigured, the users shouldn't have to reset or re-establish their connection. Suggests that the datagram is not ideal for Internet architecture, and a different model will be more useful in the future.
