Abstract:
This study concludes from data about Minnesota lakes that an increase in land use (deforestation) leads to increased carbon deposits in lakes. These increased carbon deposits lead to increased lake productivity, which affects the equilibrium of the lake system. This increase in deposits and lake productivity showcases an unexpected side effect of urbanization in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area.
